Ryan Milner

I have so much time for artist that are amazing at drawing people. Ryan Milner's illustrations are amazing.

He does illustration, fine art and typography. The image at the top has to be my favorite but his typography i find really interesting as that's something I'd like to get more involved with.

Exhibition- Charmed Life.

I went to visit the wellcome collection and came across a charmed life the Ferlicity Powell exhibition.

"Charmed Life: The solace of objects' is the result of the artist Felicity Powell’s engagement with a collection of 1400 amulets assembled by the Edwardian amateur folklorist Edward Lovett. One of the few people to have had access to this curious collection of ‘charms’, once carried in the pockets of Londoners for luck or protection, Powell was intrigued by the silent witness they bore to countless personal narratives, most of which are now lost to history. Despite being long divorced from their original owners, these objects, borowed from Oxford University's Pitt Rivers Museum, seemed to retain an insistent sense that they might yet hold some hidden magic."

The exhibition was filled with beautiful small trinkets and these beautiful was painting which were on small black disks. we were able to watch a video on how they were cleverly made.

Esra Roise

 Esra Roise was an artist I came across a while ago I came across again whist reading a magazine she had done a beautiful illustration in the beauty section.

I was particularly mesmerized by her soft yet charming illustrations of girls and her mixed media style.

She does lots of collage with nice intricate line drawings as you can see in the above the hair has a lot of detail yet there is a lot of negative space left with gives it a clean feel.

Here i have changed my idea to do a cryptic tour of London through my eyes. I plan to do this through fashion illustrations and photography.

Here are my chosen images.

Birdcage

I came across this large birdcage in the marylebone area of London whilst looking for the Paul Noble exhibtion. It was around 20 feet tall and glowed different colours and you were able to step in and out of it. I chose this photograph because i like the sense of the mystical birdcage with the anguish in the background like the dull sky and the crane.

Tower Blocks.

I was actually walking somewhere near my house when i found these tower blocks looking for a forest. I was fascinated by these urban tower blocks and the burnt out window the right one has. It remind's me of a cover of an old streets album i used to listen to when i was younger which made it feel quite familiar which is i think why i liked it so much. I am defiantly going to go back to this spot when the weather changes to take another picture and see how it compares. It will be interesting to see if the room is still burnt out.

                                                               Mirror Mirror

This is another spot I found whilst getting lost trying to find the Paul Noble exhibition. I'm pretty sure it's a junk shop and i just snapped it quickly because the man inside was looking at me. I didn't intend to use it for anything in particular i was just messing about taking photographs really but i think it came out really alluring and eerie. It reminded me of something from a horror film so i added a green tint to make it an interesting sort of creepy rather than a slaughter house sort of creepy.

                                                             Home Less.

I took this in Shoreditch near Brick lane. Whilst it's an obvious spot for street art and somewhere i often go to take pictures this really caught my eye just because of the huge scale of it. The whole thing said 'Home sweet home less' which you could interpret i guess how you want. I chose to just photograph the 'Home Less' part because I guess I wanted to focus on the fact that people around shoreditch can be so focused on the art culture and what's cool and new forgetting that there is actually a big homelessness problem in London.

                                                               The Woods

I wasn't origionally going to do woods pictures I was going to keep the theme of urban London, but Eric said I should try out some contrastive themes so I looked around for some naturey parts of London. This picture too was taken near my house in Forest Gate (i discovered there actually is a forest, in forest gate) and written on the back of somebodys garage is :

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep,

which is a poem by Robert Frost.

I really never expected to find this little hidden treasure in a shithole like Forest Gate.

I was walking somewhere near Strand and I stopped to look at protestors and luckily had my camera with me. Shortly followed my lots and lots of riot vans. Do you have nothing better to do mr policeman?
